    Pan­golins are in the fam­ily Manidae, which con­sists of three gen­era (Manis, Phatag­i­nus, and Smut­sia) and eight species. The ex­tant species live only in Africa and Asia. Pan­golins thrive in di­verse habi­tats, such as trop­i­cal forests, wood­lands, and sa­van­nas.
    Pangolins are mammals from the family Manidae. Eight pangolin species exist, and Asian species are distinguishable from African species by bristles that emerge between their scales.
