In human anatomy, the acromion (from Greek: akros, "highest", ōmos, "shoulder", pl.: acromia) is a bony process on the scapula (shoulder blade). Together with the coracoid process, it extends laterally over the shoulder joint. The acromion is a continuation of the scapular spine, and hooks over anteriorly.
The acromion is a bony projection on the scapula (shoulder blade) that forms the highest point of the shoulder and articulates with the clavicle (collarbone) to provide attachment for muscles of the upper arm and chest.
The acromion (acromial process) is the anterior projection from the lateral end of the spine of the scapula. It is continuous medially with the spine of the scapula at the acromial angle and extends anteriorly over the glenohumeral (shoulder) joint.
