Australasia is the flattest continent with much of Australia being desert. Australasia/Oceania is broadly divided into four regions as shown on the map right. Australasia lies entirely in the southern hemisphere and the seasons of all are similar. The climate of Australasia/Oceania can be divided into six different climate types

Australasia is a region within Oceania comprising Australia, New Zealand, and neighboring pacific islands. Australasia and Oceania are known as the smallest continent in the world, surrounded by the Indian Ocean to the west, Southern ocean to the south and Pacific Oceans.

With a total land area of 8.56 million square kilometres (3,310,000 sq mi), the Australian continent is the smallest, and second-lowest human inhabited (after Antarctica) continent on Earth.
