    The Battle of Danzig took place in 1945 during World War II. The Soviets began massive bombardments of Danzig on March 15th. A paratrooper unit was deployed in the Oliwa Forests on the 18th, which provoked the Soviets to enter it and start bloody fighting in the forest. The fight continued until March 25th and resulted in a Soviet victory. The city was surrounded by Soviet forces by March 22nd, and it was captured 6 days later.
