The Mongols, unfortunately, slaughtered all of Tsushima and defeated So Sukekuni’s forces – Sukekuni was likely the inspiration for Ghost of Tsushima’s Lord Shimura, Den of Geek notes.

The Mongol attacks had met stiff resistance on Tsushima, where the defenders were led by So Sukekuni, but were successful largely thanks to superior numbers.
