A cloud database is a database that is built, deployed, and accessed in a cloud environment, such as a private, public, or hybrid cloud¹. It offers many of the same benefits as traditional on-premises databases but with added flexibility, scalability, and cost-efficiency provided by cloud computing².

Types of Cloud Databases

Cloud databases can be broadly classified into two types:

1. Relational Databases: These databases consist of tables with rows and columns, allowing data to be organized in predefined relationships. They use a fixed data schema and SQL for querying and manipulating data. Examples include SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Cloud SQL².

2. Non-relational Databases: These databases store and manage unstructured data such as documents, emails, and sensor data. They do not follow a fixed schema and can handle various data formats. Examples include MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, and Bigtable².

Deployment Models
