On Monday, October 16, CWA State Workers voted yes to ratify a new union contract with the State of New Jersey by an overwhelming 94%. The new 4-year union contract spans from July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2027, representing 35,000 workers in the Executive Branch.

CWA represents 36,000 New Jersey employees and is the largest public worker union in the state. The agreement provides an across-the-board compounded wage increase of 15.3 percent over the contract term and preserves fully paid health care benefits for workers and their families under the preferred provider plan, among other contract gains.

The preliminary agreement will provide transformational changes for tens of thousands of public servants in New Jersey and their families, including across the board raises of 3.5 percent annually over the life of the four-year contract, resulting in greater take-home pay, as well as substantial changes to the civil service ranges and steps that will increase the salary guide for many of the State’s lowest paid workers.
