Though Bishop's show went through a series of changes, the characters of Danny and Rusty appeared in several Joey Bishop Show episodes over its four-year run, with Rusty appearing on the show for a three-episode arc in early 1965, about a year after The Danny Thomas Show itself had wound down.

The Dick Van Dyke Show lasted for five years, but it was almost canceled for good after only one season.

After three seasons, ABC cancelled "Make Room for Daddy" and was later picked up by CBS for its 1957-58 TV season. During the show's 11th & final season, Danny Thomas decided to retire from the show, and it ended in the spring of 1964.

Danny Thomas was a wonderful performer and I loved when they showcased his nightclub acts. The most amazing thing to me is that many shows that have long runs (this one ran 11 seasons), get stale after a while. But The Danny Thomas Show only got better.
