Internet Protocol (IP) is a fundamental part of the network layer in the Internet protocol suite, which is a set of rules governing the format of data sent over the Internet or other networks. IP is crucial for routing and addressing packets of data, ensuring they can travel across networks and reach the correct destination.

    How IP Works

IP operates by dividing data into packets, each of which contains both the data being sent and a header with routing information. The header includes the source and destination IP addresses, which are unique numerical labels assigned to each device on the Internet. These addresses ensure that data packets reach the correct endpoints. IP supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes, with IPv6 designed to provide a much larger address space than IPv41.
