The Friesian is a very tall, graceful, gorgeous horse, and the Gypsy Vanner is as cute as a button with a most loving, gentle disposition. They are both incredibly beautiful and totally superb regal beings.

The breeders of Gypsy Horses with papers are not usually crossing their stock on grade mares... so buyer beware with the Gypsy Cross. Even the "Gypsian" is questionable-- again, the better breeders of both breeds are not usually going to be doing this....

I am browsing my horse magazine and there are a TON of cross bred horses for sale through a breeder. They are Gypsy x paint, gypsy x AQHA, Gypsy x Mustang, Friesian x Canadian Warmblood, Friesian x APHA, Friesians x Arabian, etc. list goes on and on.

The bloodlines must be a blend of the saddlebred with Friesian, Clydesdale, Shire, Percheron, or Belgian, or Irish Draught; Registered Drum Horses and Gypsy Vanners ("aka" Gypsy horses") are acceptable provided they are registered within their own breed and have proof of pedigree.

The Gypsian is any horse who carries solely Friesian and Gypsy Vanner blood, or Gypsian blood. It is created by crossing a Friesian with a Gypsy Vanner. Gypsians combine the muscularity and heaviness of the Gypsy Vanner with the lighter, baroque conformation of the Friesian.
