    Geneva was originally designed as a single-line plate mill when it was built by the U.S. government in 1942 as part of the war effort. When the government no longer had need of it, the mill was sold to the United States Steel Corporation, a unit of USX Corporation, and modified into a single-line plate/sheet mill.
