    Rules for heavy vehicle log books:

    • Use a truck log book only if the vehicle you drive falls under the fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle category.
    • If driving 100km from your home base, you do not need to keep records in the log book.
    • If your destination is over 100Km, it is mandatory to carry your logbook with you.
    • Keep only one logbook at a time.
    • Ensure information recorded is complete, correct, and readable.
    • Make sure your employer receives the ‘record’ copy of your logbook entry within 14 days of completing that record.
    • Retain the logbook for at least 12 months after the date of the last entry.
