    The history of popping corn can be traced back to 4700 BCE. Popcorn kernels believed to be the earliest ever found were uncovered by archaeologists in Peru. Dated to around 5,600 years ago, the kernels were discovered in a tomb at Huaca Prieta, from the Olmec civilization.
