In "Doctor Zhivago," the protagonist, Yuri Zhivago, eventually moves back to Moscow. His family has been deported to Paris, and he spends his days suffering from heart trouble and writing poetry and philosophy. One day, his heart gives out while he's riding a streetcar, and he dies. The novel's actual prose ends with Misha Gordon and his buddy Dudorov meeting Zhivago's long-lost daughter during World War II ^{1 2}.
