  1. Huygens (spacecraft) - Wikipedia

    • A position of Huygens's landing site on Titan was found with precision (within one km – one km on Titan measures 1.3 arcminutes of latitude and longitude at the equator) using the Doppler data at a distance from Earth of about 1.2 billion kilometers. See more

    Summary

Huygens was an atmospheric entry robotic space probe that landed successfully on Saturn's moon Titan in 2005. Built … See more

    Overview

Huygens was designed to enter and brake in Titan's atmosphere and parachute a fully instrumented robotic laboratory to the surface. When the mission was planned, it was not yet certain whether the landing site would be a … See more

    • According to 3 sources
The Huygens probe successfully landed on Saturn's largest moon Titan at about 11:30 UTC on January 14, 2005. The descent lasted two hours and 27 minutes. The probe survived another 72 minutes on the surface of Titan. This was the first - and, so far, the only - landing in the outer solar system.
Huygens was released from the Cassini spacecraft on Christmas Day 2004, and arrived at Titan on January 14, 2005. The probe began transmitting data to Cassini four minutes into its descent through Titan’s murky atmosphere, snapping photos and taking data all the while.
The Huygens probe entered Titan's atmosphere on January 14, 2005 and landed on its surface after a 2.5 h descent. 1 Images obtained by the Descent Imager/Spectral Radiometer (DISR) revealed the landing site to be a flood plain strewn with rounded, decimeter-sized pebbles of unknown composition ( ...
