Bellis is a genus of flowering plants that belong to the sunflower family (Asteraceae) ¹. They are mostly perennials and are native to Europe and northern Africa ¹. The genus contains 10 species including Bellis perennis, the so-called “common daisy” or “English daisy” ¹. Bellis are perennials that reach a height of about 20 cm (four inches) and flower from the late spring through to the beginning of summer ². They have solitary flowers of white, pink or red and make good plants for rockeries ².
