The Crab Pulsar is a relatively young neutron star¹that is the central star in the Crab Nebula, a remnant of the supernova SN 1054¹. The pulsar was discovered in 1968 and was the first to be connected with a supernova remnant¹. The Crab Nebula consists of a “pulsar”, a rapidly rotating neutron star, at the center that is surrounded by a bright cloud of energized particles called a nebula². The pulsar is spinning 30 times a second and is the bright spot in the center of the gaseous swirl at the nebula's core³.
