    Frome grew rapidly in the 18th century and it became one of the largest towns in Somerset with a population of over 8,000. In 1726 a writer said that Frome ‘is now reckoned to have more people in it than the City of Bath’. Rook Lane Congregational Church was built in 1707. Blue House was built in 1726.
