Sep 25, 2021 · When doing 1 min figure drawing, try to keep that initial gesture to 30 seconds. Then you have 30 seconds to check and fix structure issues. Same as you try 5 min etc. But getting to that point might mean a lot of 5 min gestures to get used to it till you get down to shit 30s. Oct 15, 2023 · If you want a very thorough in depth explanation I just looked at my copy of “Force Dynamic Drawing for Animators” and the first 70 pages are completely dedicated to dynamic gesture drawing. Those would be my two recommendations. Also I know you’re not wanting to watch videos but “love life drawing” on YouTube is the best in my opinion.

Just be wary that there are a lot of gesture drawing videos on YouTube where people are actually doing figure drawing and are just calling in gesture drawing for some reason.
