A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including

• Rash
• Itching/swelling
• Severe dizziness
• Trouble breathing

• Tell doctor your complete medical history
• Review all drugs you are taking with your doctor
• Swallow capsules whole.
• For capsule sprinkle, extended release 24 hr products : Do not chew or crush. May add contents to applesauce. Do not chew. May take with or without food. Take at the same time every day. May make you drowsy or dizzy. Drive with caution.
• For solution, oral products : Measure dose using a dosing spoon/cup/syringe.
• For tablet products : Take at the same time(s) daily as directed. May make you dizzy. Use caution when driving. Reduce or avoid drinking alcohol. Call doctor if you are not getting better.

• May cause dizziness ; For capsule sprinkle, extended release 24 hr products : May cause drowsiness. Alcohol and marijuana may intensify this effect. Use care when operating a vehicle, vessel (e.g., boat), or machinery. ; For capsule sprinkle, extended release 24 hr products : Swallow whole. Do not chew or crush. ; For capsule sprinkle, extended release 24 hr products : May sprinkle capsule contents on applesauce. Swallow mixture immediately without chewing. ; For tablet products : This drug may impair the ability to operate a vehicle, vessel (e.g., boat), or machinery. Use care until you become familiar with its effects. ;

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you've had:

• Kidney problems
• Severe urinary tract infections
• Recent dietary change (from a high-protein diet to a vegetarian diet)

Products that may interact with this drug include:

• Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (such as acetazolamide, methazolamide)
• Sodium bicarbonate
