The Orion Nebula is a stellar nursery located in our Milky Way galaxy about 1,500 light-years from Earth. It is a vast expanse of valleys and pillars carved through cosmic swirls of gas and dust, encompassing a complete range of star formation. The nebula is a relatively nearby laboratory for studying the star formation process across a wide range, from opulent giant stars to diminutive red dwarf stars and elusive, faint brown dwarfs.
