    Much of the Pamir Mountains lie in the Gorno-Badakhshan region of Tajikistan. [ 1 ] To the south, they border the Hindu Kush mountains along Afghanistan 's Wakhan Corridor in Badakhshan Province, Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. To the north, they join the Tian Shan mountains along the Alay Valley of Kyrgyzstan.
    Most of the Pamirs lie within Tajikistan, but the fringes penetrate Afghanistan, China, and Kyrgyzstan. The core of the Pamirs is in the highlands of Tajikistan, with the highest mountains in the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous oblast (province).
    Located in Tajikistan, the Pamir Mountains are a combination of east–west and north–south ranges. They are situated in the highland region of Central Asia.
