    1. Make leaf mold by packing leaves down as you fill your container, wetting the leaves once the pile is complete, sealing and poking holes in garbage bags to provide airflow, and stacking them in an out of the way place in your yard. Flip bags over in six months, and in 12 to 18 months check for finished leaf mold (small, flaky, brown bits).
    2. Make compost by piling autumn leaves in the corner of your yard, ideally keeping leaves from blowing away with chicken wire or some type of structure. To speed up composition, shred those leaves with a mulching lawnmower (or use a chipper or leaf shredder).
