  2. Jeet Kune Do
    • According to 5 sources
Jeet Kune Do (Chinese: 截拳道; "way of the intercepting fist"; abbreviated JKD) is a hybrid martial art conceived and practiced by martial artist Bruce Lee. It was formed from Lee's experiences in unarmed fighting and self-defense—as well as eclectic, Zen Buddhist and Taoist philosophies—as a new school of martial arts thought.
Bruce Lee’s martial art style is jeet kune do (JKD), which he founded and coined in 1967. Jeet kune do is a philosophy rather than a martial art, which promotes using the best fighting styles, techniques, and lessons from all martial arts for real-life self-defense situations (combat realism).
Jeet Kune Do is a modern martial arts philosophy and fighting style created by Bruce Lee, a renowned martial artist, actor, and martial arts movie producer/writer/director. It was developed in the 1960s as a response to the perceived limitations and constraints of traditional martial arts.
Jeet Kune Do, which translates to “The Way of the Intercepting Fist”, is Bruce Lee’s martial arts process. It is a hybrid system that is influenced by various other styles, such as western boxing, kung fu, and fencing.
Bruce Lee developed an expression of martial arts that was personal to him called Jeet Kune Do (translated: Way of the Intercepting Fist). The art has as its symbolic representation what we call Bruce Lee’s Core Symbol (see below) and uses as its main tenet: “Using no way as way; having no limitation as limitation.”
