    • According to 4 sources
The Carina Nebula[7] or Eta Carinae Nebula[8] (catalogued as NGC 3372; also known as the Great Carina Nebula[9]) is a large, complex area of bright and dark nebulosity in the constellation Carina, located in the Carina–Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way galaxy.
It has the designation NGC 3372 in the New General Catalogue and is listed as Caldwell 92 in the Caldwell catalogue. The Carina Nebula lies 8,500 light-years away. It is one of the largest diffuse nebulae known. It spans about 460 light-years in diameter.
The Carina Nebula, NGC 3372, is an enormous cloud of gas and dust home to several massive and bright stars, including at least a dozen that are 50 to 100 times the mass of our Sun. It is an emission nebula, meaning that the intense radiation from its stars ionizes the gas and causes it to glow.
The Carina Nebula is a star-forming region located in the southern constellation Carina. NGC 3372 spans over 300 light-years across and contains a keel-shaped cloud of gas and dust.
