  2. Transpiration is the process of water movement through a plant and its evaporation from aerial parts, mainly from the leaves but also from stems and flowers12. There are three types of transpiration2:
    • Stomatal transpiration: It is the evaporation of water through stomata, which are specialized pores in the leaves. It accounts for around 80 to 90% of the total water loss from plants.
    • Cuticular transpiration: It is the water lost through the impermeable covering present on the leaves and stem of the plant called the cuticle. It causes around 20% of transpiration in plants.
    • Lenticular Transpiration: It is the evaporation of water through lenticels, which are the tiny openings present on the woody bark.
