On the first day of the Parliamentary session in 1914, July 1, Prime Minister Hannes Hafstein explained developments in the flag issue and distributed the flag committee's report. He described the drawbacks of having the blue and white flag ratified, and that he had not felt able to propose another design to the king on his own.
