  1. Messenger RNA - Wikipedia

    • In molecular biology, messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) is a single-stranded molecule of RNA that corresponds to the genetic sequence of a gene, and is read by a ribosome in the process of synthesizing a protein. mRNA is created during the process of transcription, where an enzyme (RNA polymerase) converts the gene into primary transcript mRNA (… See more

    Synthesis

The brief existence of an mRNA molecule begins with transcription, and ultimately ends in degradation. During its life, an mRNA molecule may also be processed, edited, and transported prior to translation. Eukaryotic … See more

    Structure

Coding regions are composed of codons, which are decoded and translated into proteins by the ribosome; in eukaryotes usually into one and in prokaryotes usually into several. Coding regions begin with the start codon and … See more

  2. Transcription
    • According to 3 sources
mRNA is created during the process of transcription, where an enzyme (RNA polymerase) converts the gene into primary transcript mRNA (also known as pre-mRNA). This pre-mRNA usually still contains introns, regions that will not go on to code for the final amino acid sequence.
Messenger RNA (mRNA) is a subtype of RNA. An mRNA molecule carries a portion of the DNA code to other parts of the cell for processing. mRNA is created during transcription. During the transcription process, a single strand of DNA is decoded by RNA polymerase, and mRNA is synthesized.
Inside each nucleus, a multi subunit protein called RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) reads DNA and simultaneously fabricates a “message” or transcript, which is called messenger RNA (mRNA), in a process called transcription.

  3. What Is mRNA? Here’s A Crash Course On What It Does

Apr 19, 2021 · Sections of the DNA code are transcribed into shortened messages that are instructions for making proteins. These messages – the mRNA – are transported out to the main part of the cell. Once...

Aug 3, 2023 · mRNA is synthesized from a DNA molecule by the action of enzyme RNA polymerase and the process is termed transcription. At the end of transcription, mRNA is synthesized.

  6. Messenger RNA (mRNA) | Description & Function

5 days ago · Messenger RNA, molecule in cells that carries codes from the DNA in the nucleus to the sites of protein synthesis in the cytoplasm (the ribosomes). Each mRNA molecule encodes information for one protein. In the cytoplasm, …
