Egyptian social classes were a fascinating topic of study for historians. The ancient Egyptian people were grouped in a hierarchical system with the Pharaoh at the top and farmers and slaves at the bottom.

In ancient Egypt, peasants were considered as the lowest level in social classes. Peasants lived in mud brick houses with a bad condition. They equipped their rooms with a bed, a bench, pots for cooking, baskets and tools for grinding wheat.

The lower class people were buried with some possessions, too. However, the items were not as lavish as those that were buried with pharaohs . Instead, they were buried with whatever material items the family could part with such as amulets, fruit, and bread (via Ancient Egypt ).

Finally, the lower class of ancient Egypt were slaves, servants, and peasant farmers. The majority of Egyptians were peasants, accounting for around 80% of the population. These people worked mainly in agriculture, producing crops and farming the land.

This skill set was job-specific, often held by an upper class that was associated with state or local government and/or priesthood at major temples. The highest levels of social status often came with government and/or temple offices.
