In 2015, she received recognition as Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, in the Disney musical fantasy film Descendants, and later reprised her role in its sequels. She has since starred in the Netflix romantic drama film Purple Hearts (2022) and thriller film Carry-On (2024).

Evie is one the deuteragonists of the film Descendants, as well as a major character of its sequels Descendants 2 and Descendants 3, and of most media in the Descendants franchise. She is the daughter of the Evil Queen and the stepsister of Snow White. She is the founder of Evie's 4 Hearts.

In Descendants, Carson plays Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen (from Snow White), played by comedian Kathy Najimy. She stars alongside Kristin Chenoweth as Maleficent, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, Booboo Stewart as Jay, and Dove Cameron as Mal.

Evie (right) is played by newcomer Sofia Carson and is the daughter of the Evil Queen, played by Kathy Najimy (Hocus Pocus, Sister Act). Jay (left) is played by Booboo Stewart (X-Men Days of Future Past, Twilight) and is the son of Jafar, played by Maz Jobrani (The Interpreter).

Sofia Carson is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter, dancer and actress, probably best known for portraying Evie in the Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants, and also guest starring on Disney Channel's hit series, Austin and Ally as Chelsea in the single episode "Princesses & Prizes".
