Global Internet usage is the number of people who use the Internet worldwide. In 2015, the International Telecommunication Union estimated about 3.2 billion people, or almost half of the world's population, would be online by the end of the year.

ITU estimates that approximately 5.4 billion people – or 67 per cent of the world’s population – are using the Internet in 2023. This represents an increase of 45 per cent since 2018, with 1.7 billion people estimated to have come online during that period.

As of 2022, 69% of the world’s population, or 4.9 billion people, actively use the internet. Trends indicate that the number of internet users grows at an annual rate of 4%, meaning that roughly 196 million new people access the internet each year.
