You should aim to heat up your iron to 270 degrees. You won't find an actual temperature setting on household irons. They'll have a silk setting or a cotton setting. You should use a frying pan thermometer to find the correct setting of your iron.

While all irons differ slightly in temperature settings depending on the manufacturer, follow the recommendations on this chart as a basic guideline of proper temperatures for ironing different types of fabric using a scale of one to seven; one being cool, seven being very hot. Press on the wrong side of the fabric while it is still damp.

It will work best if the iron temperature is around 445 degrees (F) or if the setting on your iron is 5. At first, ironing out the wrinkles may be difficult. But you’ll get the hang of it over time. The material should be dampened or pre-moistened.
