While the true meaning behind “STORY” remains open to interpretation, it is undeniable that NF has crafted a masterful piece of storytelling that resonates with listeners on multiple levels.

Being that it's called "Story" I would say it's just that, a story. Sure he says he writes about life most of the time, but he's also mentioned that he was doing something new with the mixtape so not everything is going to be his normal life stuff I don't think.

Really curious if this is based on a true story that happened to Nate, a family member or a friend. As others have said, the general premise is all too real and common 😔 ...sadly I’m speaking from experience.

Just to give you a rough idea: Mansion is about him being trapped in his mind, Theraphy Session is him trying to cope with things, Perception (especially Intro III) is him finally murdering his fear (which has been with him since mansion) and unlocking the door of his cage.
