    To keep the backlit keyboard on HP always on, you can:

    • Restart the notebook, and then immediately press the F10 repeatedly until the BIOS opens. When the BIOS opens, use the arrow keys to navigate to the Advanced tab. Navigate to Built-in Device Options, and then press Enter. In the Built-in Device Options, select Backlit keyboard timeout.
    • Open your HP BIOS and go to the Advanced Settings tap. If there's a Built-in Device Options menu there, you will find keyboard settings under it that allows you to set your backlit keyboard to always on. You can access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting.
    • Press the F5 or F4 (some models) key on the keyboard to turn the light on or off. It might be necessary to press the fn (function) key at the same time. If the backlight icon is not on the F5 key, look for the backlit keyboard key on the row of function keys.
    • Locate the F5 button on the top bar of your keyboard. This button may even be labeled with a backlight icon. Simply clicking this button while pressing the Fn button located at the bottom row of your keyboard will leave you with keyboard lighting operational magic.
