A search you complete before applying for a trademark registration to make sure your trademark is available to register for your particular goods or services, and to make sure that no other trademark conflicts with it.

Your trademark application must include a list of the goods and services in use or have a bona fide intent to use with your trademark.

The results of your search will be displayed in a table of Trademark ID Manual information.

The Nice Classification includes a list of goods and services and their classes (the “Alphabetical List”) and a list of classes with explanatory notes. See Article 1(2) of the Nice Agreement . Goods are classified in Classes 1-34, and services are classified in Classes 35-45.

The USPTO uses trademark classes to organize goods and services in applications, assess fees, and compile a database for registered and pending trademarks that can be searched. Each category of goods or services is assigned a number from 1 to 45—also known as an international class.
