Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is considered much safer than the traditional procedure, although risks such as infection, pain or stiffness, nerve damage or the need for repeated surgery do still exist. I (25M) fell snowboarding in early January, and had an arthroscopic Rotator Cuff and Bankart repair on my LEFT shoulder in early March, and am about to have an arthroscopic Bankart repair on my RIGHT shoulder in mid-May (no rotator cuff, separate injury).

Interventions include the arthroscopic Bankart repair, an open Bankart repair or conservative management. Arthroscopic Bankart repair the muscle strength is regained faster, but the recurrence rates after open Bankart repair are significantly lower.
