    Mosaic was a groundbreaking web browser developed in 1993 by a team at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. It played a pivotal role in popularizing the World Wide Web and is often considered the first widely-used web browser.
    Marc Andreessen and his team invented Mosaic (original NCSA page), the first popular Web browser, which greatly helped spread use and knowledge of the web across the world.
    While Nexus was only used for the NeXTStep OS, the first commercially-available internet browser was Mosaic. Computer programmers Marc Andreessen and Jamie Zawinski developed the NCSA Mosaic web browser in 1993.
