You want to leave the sides down. Pin your hair back. Use a strong bobby pin and place it horizontally or at a slight angle with the open end pointing up to hold your hair back. Cover the pin with your hair. Bring your hair over the pin from the back to cover it and make sure the hair at the side of your face is not caught in the pin.
