Held at UCLA’s Royce Hall, del Toro’s Pinocchio topped the 50th Annie Awards for animation. The acclaimed film garnered five awards including best animation feature, direction (del Toro and Mark Gustafson), character animation, music and production design.

“Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” was the big winner at the 50th annual Annie Awards, winning five categories in the award show that honors the best in animation. Fellow Oscar-nominees “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On” and “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” won three and two awards, respectively.

The film received several awards and nominations, including the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, thus becoming the first animated film from a streaming service, the first non- Disney / Pixar film since Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), the second stop-motion animated film after Aardman 's Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) and the Adventures of Pinocchio 's second adaptation to win any category from Academy Awards after Disney's Pinocchio. It received three nominations at the 80th Golden Globe Awards and 76th British Academy Film Awards, winning Best Animated Feature Film and Best Animated Film, respectively, and nine Annie Award nominations, winning five, including Best Animated Feature.

Film/A Shadowmachine Production in association with The Jim Henson Company), adapted from Carlo Collodi’s “The Adventures of Pinocchio,” took home Annies for Best Feature Best Character Animation, Feature (Tucker Barrie), Best Direction, Feature (Guillermo del Toro, Mark Gustafson), Best Music, Feature (Alexandre Desplat, Roeban Katz, Guillermo del Toro, Patrick McHale) and Best Production Design, Feature (Curt Enderle, Guy Davis).

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio leads the feature competition of the 50th annual Annie Awards for animation, with nine nominations including one in the top category for best animated feature. That’s followed by Turning Red with seven noms and Puss in Boot: The Last Wish and The Sea Beast, with six apiece.
