Jan 11, 2023 · These were also lost from AOL mail account. This occurred about the time Outlook rules were being run to delete spam messages. All rules were also deleted. Went into scramble mode shutting down all apps and restarting laptop. Am now able to send/receive mail. Was able to restore and use some rules to delete incessant spam messages.

As to AOL settings: be sure that, in your email settings, the "By default, show me mail from" is set to Everyone. And, true, the obvious setting whose maximum is 7 days, is only for Old Mail, not for New Mail.
