The Royal Albert Hall stands as an iconic symbol of British heritage and cultural significance. Since its opening in 1871, it has played a central role in the country's artistic and entertainment landscape. Named in memory of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, the Hall forms part of the grand memorial dedicated to the Prince Consort.
Made up of more than six million red bricks and 80,000 blocks of terracotta, the Hall opened in 1871 as a tribute to Queen Victoria’s late husband, Prince Albert. In the ensuing century and a half, the circular building has welcomed concerts, performances and events as diverse as the annual BBC Proms, tennis matches and stand-up comedy.
Built in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall has been one of London’s most popular entertainment venues for nearly 150 years. The Grade I listed building survived two world wars, looking almost the same today as it did during Queen Victoria’s reign. History of the Royal Albert Hall
