    Vimto was created in 1908 in Manchester by John Noel Nichols (1883–1966), a wholesaler of herbs, spices and medicines. He saw the market opening for soft drinks due to the temperance movement and the passage of the Licensing Act 1904. It was originally sold under the name Vim Tonic, which Nichols shortened to 'Vimto' in 1912.
    It was invented in 1908 by John Noel Nichols in Manchester, England. Created as a healthy pick-me-up tonic it comprised a blend of fruits, herbs and spices to give ‘vim’ and ‘vigour’ to its consumers. Originally called Vimtonic, and now known as Vimto, its recipe still remains a secret today.
    Vimto is an iconic British purple-colored soft drink created in 1908 in Manchester, England. Originally, it was registered as a health tonic and came in the form of concentrated syrup intended to invigorate and refresh during the hot summer months.
