    King Narmer was the first king of Egypt who unified the country peacefully at the beginning of the First Dynastic Period. He is also cited as the last king of the Predynastic Period before the rise of a king named Menes who unified the country through conquest. By incorporating the lands west of the fertile, triangular Nile Delta region into his own kingdom, he created a united Egypt, the world’s first great territorial state.
