  2. Guglielmo Marconi is credited for inventing the radio in 1895. He was successful in sending and receiving Morse-based radio signals in 1896 over approximately 4 miles (6 kilometers) in England. After this success, Marconi applied for and was granted the first patent in wireless telegraphy globally.
