So I was in Grosvenor Square in London today and I noticed the American Embassy was flying its Flag at half mast. I saw online that POTUS ordered it be flown at half mast on 06/04/17 for the final burial of John Glenn but why would it still be down now? Just hoping one of you lovely yanks can satisfy my curiosity.

Oct 30, 2023 · To be specific. The American Flag was ordered to be flown at half staff. No other flags can be raised higher than the American Flag, so they are lowered accordingly. Typically, you see the American Flag slightly higher, then all others the same or slightly lower to one another depending on State and local laws.
