The life expectancy of people with Angelman syndrome is normal. Angelman syndrome itself does not cause death. However, there can be severe complications due to some of the symptoms of the syndrome, such as seizures and aspiration pneumonia.

The life expectancy of patients with atrial fibrillation is related to multiple factors, such as the type of atrial fibrillation, the presence of comorbidities, and individual conditions, which cannot be generalized. Transient atrial fibrillation and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation have little impact on patients' longevity. However, the life span will be shortened for patients with persistent atrial fibrillation or permanent atrial fibrillation, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, hypertensive heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, and other underlying diseases. It is easy for them to develop adverse cardiovascular events and even cause ventricular fibrillation, leading to death.

Angelman syndrome is rare. Researchers often don't know what causes the genetic changes that result in the disease. Most people with Angelman syndrome don't have a family history. But sometimes Angelman syndrome may be passed down from a parent. A family history of the disease may increase a baby's risk of getting Angelman syndrome.

People with Angelman syndrome have almost normal life spans. Adults are not usually able to live on their own but can learn basic household tasks and can live in group homes. Some individuals can have jobs in which they are supervised directly.
