Seizures are caused when there is a disturbance in brain activity. Seizures can occur due to many factors and triggers like stress, lack of sleep, and alcohol. It can also be caused by high fever, brain infections, lack of sodium, COVID-19, head trauma, or certain medications. Stress and anxiety have been known to release certain chemicals in regions of the brain that are more prone to seizures. Stress levels can be managed through regular exercise, yoga, and meditation. The post-ictal phase of a seizure is a period when the seizure subsides and the patient returns to baseline levels. It is characterized by symptoms like drowsiness, altered state of consciousness, confusion, nausea, headache, and elevated blood pressure. It lasts for about 5 to 30 minutes.
