This is Blade Runner, the 1982 movie directed by Ridley Scott: (very loosely) based on Philip K Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and telling the story of Rick Deckard, a cop who works for the LAPD, tracking down and ‘retiring’ replicants – genetically-engineered, almost-human artificial people whose presence on Earth is illegal, following a replicant revolt on one of Earth’s off-world colonies.

The story of "Blade Runner" (based on the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick) revolves around a so-called blade runner hunting four artificial human beings, known as the replicants, who are illegally present on the earth.

The film is told from the perspective of Rick Deckard, a former police officer part of the special police squad known as ‘Blade Runners’. Blade runners are responsible for hunting down and ‘retiring’ genetically engineered humanoids known as replicants.

The film is set in a dystopian future Los Angeles of 2019, in which synthetic humans known as replicants are bio-engineered by the powerful Tyrell Corporation to work on space colonies.
