Trichomoniasis

A sexually transmitted infection caused by a parasite. This may cause foul-smelling vaginal discharge in women and no symptoms in men.

Symptoms may include:

• Vaginal odor
• White, gray or yellow vaginal discharge, with an unpleasant smell
• Genital redness or swelling

Rectovaginal fistula

Very rare

Abnormal tissue growth that connects the colon, rectum and vagina

Symptoms may include:

• Vaginal odor
• Passage of gas and stool from vagina
• Unpleasant smell of vaginal discharge
• Pain during sexual intercourse

Cervical cancer

Rare

Tumor that occurs in cervix, the lower part of the uterus. This causes abnormal vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding, and painful sex.

Symptoms may include:

• Vaginal odor
• Abnormal vaginal discharge with foul odor
• Pelvic pain during intercourse
