Consistent with Florida’s Parents’ Bill of Rights, the new DOH rule empowers parents to decide if their healthy child should quarantine. Under the new rule, the only children required to quarantine are those that either test positive for COVID or who are symptomatic.

In terms of quarantine rules, Ladapo eliminated previous mandates requiring students to quarantine for at least four days off-campus if they've been exposed. Under the new guidelines, students who have been exposed can continue going to campus, "without restrictions or disparate treatment," provided they are asymptomatic.

Florida provides for taking individuals into quarantine under four separate statutory sections for: •Communicable disease (29 FRS sec. 381.0011) •Communicable disease where a “public health emergency” has been declared (64 FAC sec. 64D-3.0071) •Sexually transmitted diseases (29 ch.384) •Tuberculosis (29 ch. 392)

Florida itself doesn't have travel restrictions either traveling to or from the state, including rules for quarantine. The Florida Department of Health recommends that if you travel outside Florida, check state, local and other regulations, including those for testing requirements, quarantine and vaccination requirements.
